Only a highly talented Navajo Dine’ Weaver could produce this masterpiece. The wool is home grown and hand sheered. Then toe cards comb the wool clean, straight and smooth. Eventually, the piles of wool are handspun on a wooden whorl. Spun and Redlin and Redlin some more. Outstanding FINE yarn!
Then the weaver colors her yarns with roots, herbs, bark, berries and more – VEGETAL DYE!
Weaving means dozens of warp interwoven with colored warp, one color at a time, one thread at a time. And, after days and weeks of week, VIOLA! A beautiful tapestry rug.
YEIBICHAI dancers are featured, Perfection 14 1/2” x 20” in size, extra FINE weaving. Circa 1980s.
