SUMMER BLOWOUT – Limited Time!
The nineteen Pueblo Indian tribes are ancient. And industrious. They tell legends of earlier times, much of which is confirmed. Their legends coincide with research at an astonishing rate.
The Zuni Pueblo exemplifies this ancient industrious characteristic. As farmers, they make their life from the earth. But the Zuni have something else . . . industry. With their ear to nature, the seem always to know which way the wind is blowing. And, since 4 out of 5 Zuni make their living in the artworld.
This pin is an example, growing out of their penchant for lapidary. Unlike others, the Zuni tame their stones and shells. They build a design in silver, which is an incredible skill of its own, and cut the insets to match. As a result, patterns emerge to suit the skill of each Zuni silver worker.
Zuni pin ca. 1950’s. Likely Old Pawn. Sizewise, about 2″ diameter.
