MTypically considered Zuni, the NAVJO DINE’ often prove that some among them are similarly talented lapidaries. Which is/was inevitable. Navajo are genius and, as Navajo outnumber the Zuni manyfold, the allure of fine inlay is like a siren song to some Dine’.
This hefty ring is both scarce and numerous. Scarce because this particular style has gone through the system of history to reappear only on occasion, like this specimen. But numerous because the basic silver framework was once cast and inlaid by the dozens, all now scattered to the winds of time. Nevertheless, it is solid and much stronger than a similar Zuni, and beautiful in a way no refined model could be. Can resize, professional twenty bucks. Thick. Hefty. Powerful.
ca.1970s. Navajo. Turquoise. Mother of Pearl. Excellent inlay. Very good condition. Unisex, if it fits, wear it!
