COLLECTOR ALERT!

As we unload our personal collection case here on our gallery website, we run across extra special pieces that just shout out “That’s MINE!” This globular jar once shouted that out to me. Genuine Santa Clara Blackware, perfectly fired, deft deep-carving. AVANYU  the water serpent!

This 2 1/2” seed jar is definitely collector territory, ca.1980-90s. By Theresa Gutierrez, GREAT STONE POLISHER, and who was one of the FIRST to advance deep carving with right angles . . . THEN she added a matt mineral outline to jack up the ante.

This is a prime example of that time. Later, we will release others that amplified this technique. But for now, consider adding this to your  collection. Great Santa Clara Pueblo family lineage, GUTIERREZ!
