Most times natural BISBEE overshadows its host mount. And often that mounting is a simple bezel on a band or a chain. Or a bracelet Shan.
But with this fabulous ring, you get an outstanding NATURAL BISBEE turquoise gem matched with the incredible silverwork of Emmett Nevakuku of Hopi.
The Hopi tribe is known for excellence is Sterling. Their background stretches through the troublesome times of early silver days, the mid-1800s, when technique hoarding and secrecy ruled and slowed the spread of silver work. But at least one persistent Hopi finally learned the techniques and magic of silverwork and began an art revolution among his Hopi tribe mates. By the 1940s, the Hopi had developed a type and style indigenous to themselves and their inate design palettte, originally formed in pottery and basketry, and later applied to Hopi jewelry.
In this ring silver, you see the unique Hopi overlay technique applied to the shank, with a textured ground and a stamped overlay. The bezel is top grade modern, a chiseled strip of hefty, thick silver to host the fabulous BISBEE cab.
Rich Bisbee blue, with the swirling black mineralized matrix common to high grade BISBEE, the stone has a pleasant shape and a fine polish. A small spot of host mother rock graces one side, guaranteeing its Bisbee Arizona origin.
