COLLECTOR ALERT! . . . Â Master Weavrr, published.
“TGH,” that’s the moniker of Two Gray Hills textiled. Long known as the diamond of Navajo weaving, tapestries from TGH are highly sought. They are not cheap, because they are extra fine in quality. Almost all TGH are classified as high grade tapestries. Weavers from the area are particularly proud of their heritage and continue to excel, generation to generation.
Recognized by the preponderance of “natural” colors, black, white, brown, and mixtures there of, the design patterns of TGH are likewise unique. Always encased in a border, TGH features central diamond patterns surrounded by any number of similar stepped elements. The wool is extra fine, likely due to the superior carding techniques employed by the TGH weavers. Their weft is soft to the touch, clean and elegant. The warp is super thin, strung as a single strand, back and forth hundreds of times, providing an unbreakable bond with the weft.
This specimen is typical TGH in all respects, with the addition of a tan vegetal colored touch. The tan blends unerringly with the natural colorings and barely becomes noticable until the eye says, “hey, what’s that gorgeous, soft hue?” A subtle twist.
Measuring 54″ x 37″ by Rita Nez. Top grade and unique. Collector quality.
