One of the most legendary Indian Traders of all time. JB Moore became a bonafide Navajo Trading Post owner in the late 1890s or so. He was among those traders who guided Navajo weavers into rugs, from blankets. He encouraged his legion of weavers to use heavier yarns and weave in floor rug sizes. His were among the first to “last a lifetime.” And many have outlived a succession of owners.
This textile is woven with a silky feeling Churro wool, both warp and weft. The dashes create a illusion of softness in the striped design elements. The bold elements may be customized brands or a pair of canyon maps, woven petroglyphs.
