Genuine Lander Blue cabochon

(SOLD).     LANDER BLUE – the most exclusive NATURAL turquoise in the world. Long the leader in both quality and value, only 128 pounds of this precious material was mined 1974-1976. The vein pinched while the fabulous natural turquoise remains in high demand on an international basis.

Many look-alike turquoise, much treated, don’t meet the high standards of Lander Blue. Most of the LB was the preferred high hue blue, very little low-medium grade, although some variation in color is natural and expected. The major feature of Lander Blue is its outstanding SPIDERWEB, a network of dark chert-like fine lines weave their way through Lander Blue, creating the much sought and relatively scarce turquoise in its spiderweb class.

This gemstone measures 8.20 carats and is among those cut at the LB mine, a tradition of high quality turquoise mines.
