The Singing Saw – An experienced silversmith who can saw his metal expertly knows things are in sync when his saw starts to SING. This occurs when the up and down motion of the sawteeth are equally biting into the metal, cutting it smoothly and equally. This means the saw blade is perfectly aligned, the pressure is just right, and the metal flows out evenly. This is a very satisfying moment to a good jeweler.
Tim Yazzie of San Felipe Pueblo is such a silversmith. A master overlay silversmith who can make his saw sing! Moreover, Tim has learned to turn and twist his plates WITHOUT the aid of drawing and sketching. Tim just cuts a hole in the right place, threads his thin blade through, gets set, and begins sawing. Tim’s designs are Pueblo in origin (San Felipe heritage) but emerge effortlessly.
In addition, Tim is talented, with great lapidary skills.
This is a pair of Tim’s original one-of-a-kind angle earrings with Sleeping Beauty turquoise. Pueblo cloud designs and chisel bezels. Mint condition.
